Severna Park Centennial

1906-2006
The
outline of the sailboat was selected for the Severna Park Centennial
logo because while there have been many changes over the last century,
the one constant has been the influence of the water on the lives
of our residence. Located between the Severn and Magothy Rivers,
Severna Park has a feel that still reflects in "summer community"
origins.
Severna
Park, while not an incorporated area, is a strong community where
residents and businesses support one another. There are a variety
of youth groups, churches, civic organizations, community associations,
and clubs - each contributing the colorful fabric of life in Severna
Park. We all have the opportunity to join together in Severna Park's
Centennial Celebration.
ASPIRE,
Inc., The Association for Severna Park Improvement, Renewal and
Enhancement, Inc. has assumed the role of catalyst in launching
the Centennial Celebration. It created a Centennial Steering Committee,
consisting of representatives from the Greater Severna Park Chamber
of Commerce, the Greater Severna Park Council, the Community Center,
and Friends of Anne Arundel County Trails, and ASPIRE. The goal
of the steering committee is to put a framework in place that will
enable all groups within our community to
be a part of the celebration.
Centennial
plans call for individual organizations to create special Centennial
events and for businesses to join in the fun through special Centennial
offerings. |
